While the Trump base might disguise an unfortunate tendency to accidental racism, one thing that does appear very obvious is his disdain for scholarly approaches to all problems. It might be said then that he is not a racist, just stupid, and there is a difference.
Having lived most of his life in a sort of public spotlight some generalizations about his character and talents can develop. He has had many "successes" that some people might regard as unremarkable. Some might say that his accomplishments have depended more on his physical attractiveness and his father's money than on any talent.
It would not be the first time something like that happened. You might know as I do other very physically attractive people who were not required to follow the same rules the rest of us do. So they never learned the rules. If two people have advice and one of them is much more physically attractive there is a tendency to take the advice of the physically attractive one. Then they become adults without understanding how the real world works.
Not all the beautiful people have that problem, but it can seem Trump did miss much of his education somehow.
Little if any "wall" got built during his first term. Mexico paid nothing for the wall. Then something happened that probably does not happen very often. The people who were disenfranchised, the people who were less well educated, the people who were tired of having their ideas scoffed upon, let Trump be their hero. They could not get away with those choices, but Trump could, he could do whatever he wants.
It is far more complicated than that, but it is fair description of the political condition of the country today. We are at the mercy of "dumb blonds" who aren't even really blond.
An especially noticeable flaw in the political aspirations of the Trump base is the mismatch between the general effort to cut government "waste" and the effort ensure "states' rights" are given precedence over federal oversight. If each state decides its own priorities, how does any outsider decide that state is not meeting its priorities? For example suppose there is an assumption that the interests of the state are advanced by increasing fishing. Why shouldn't that same state decide that its interests are better advanced by decreasing fishing?
It can be obvious that the Trump base especially needs to feel like they "won" something at last. Yet the details do not seem to matter. There are no details what policy changes Greenland needs, only that the United States (led by the Trump base) should direct it all. Also notice the notion of "states' rights" do not apply to Greenland. The security of the United States can only be threatened from Greenland by going through Canada, which should therefore remain our ally.
As detached and ridiculous as everything Trump has ever said or done can be, it is a wonder how Democrats got more votes. Whose sexual indiscretions, such as they might have been, were more egregious, Bill Clinton's or Donald Trumps? Yet Bill's indiscretion was possibly a factor in Hillary losing to Trump.
In 2024 a major reason Trump won is that Republicans successfully created the illusion that large numbers of Democrats were transgenders. To judge by the media, especially social media, it might appear 30 to 40 percent of Democrats were transgender. A relative of mine in the Midwest said transgenders had a "parade" in her city. It does not require 30 to 40 percent of Democrats to hold a parade. In fact far less than 1 percent of Democrats can stage a rather large parade. In any case there is no large voting block who wants to force permanent damage on anyone. In fact there were calls to eliminate infant circumcision until it was shown to be reversible.
Another thing that bothered many Republican voters in 2024 was the fear that males might enter restrooms that are designated for females. The safety and privacy of restroom facilities has a long history. How can they be made more safe without making them less private and, how can they be made more private without making them less safe? Such efforts have culminated in a modern restroom stall design that is both very safe and very private. The large opening at the bottom of the stall provides safety in the event of most medical emergencies.
The stall door latch is such a simple design that it is easy to see that it is securely latched. One famous company that makes the latches is Harris Hardware.
Such latches remove any need for constant supervision of facilities, which is problematic and impractical. Yet there are people with learning disabilities who can be uncomfortable without supervision of facilities. Some Republicans annoyed that a transgender "woman" might try to use the restrooms designed for women have discussed banning transgenders from that. Details on who would supervise and from where can be neglected. People who studied civil engineering in college, made good grades, and are clearly not dumb blonds, understand the real problems with restroom safety and privacy typically do not address those political concerns.
