It is a wonder to behold. It is a wonder how it will proceed. How long and how far will the true conservatives stand off? Why isn't there a bigger rally behind the man who can wield the power of the higherst office? What else could carry the nation valiantly to its shining destiny? Trump has people who admire his "great accomplishment" in defeating the Democrats; followers like Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Chris Christie, and quite many voters.
If there was a selflessness Trump displayed in playing the wrecking ball, perhaps that should be admired. At a time when "If you tear it down, they will come" was the catch phrase adopted from a similar Hollywood phrase, Trump did tear it down, perhaps fully aware of the costs to the party and to himself.
His effectiveness as a wrecking ball could well make the ensuing construction awkward for him, sorry Sean, sorry Laura, sorry Chris. The rally might not surge.
Republicans have several leaders with vision and understanding; Mike Huckabee, Scott Walker, Ted Cruz, and several others who ran for but "lost" the nomination, not because of any of their failings, but because they weren't the wrecking ball required by the unusual circumstances. It would be a waste of their time and effort to make them mere decorations for the wrecking ball. It is unfair to call them "losers" or underrate their performances then and now.
Mike Huckabee could tell you that power comes from God, not Donald Trump. The nation was not ready for such language, would not have understood it, otherwise Mike Huckabee would be president. Trump supporters need to understand that the "Never Trump" people had good reasons for that and still do.
The Republican Party was in terrible disarray before Trump happened along. It is not realistic to expect Trump to suddenly get it marching in step.
